"Im rubbish at art!"

“ I’m just not creative and was told at school that I wasn’t any good at art!”

I hear these words all the time and heads nod in agreement when I say that my workshops are for people who believe they aren’t creative. One of my motivations of what I do is to show that we all have Core Creativity, I facilitate a space for people who want to be creative and are still holding that belief they can’t do art as somewhen or someone in their lives they had their creativity shut down.

Unfortunately that sort of negativity can get carried around with you for the rest of your life and by experience we just accept it almost like that decision has been made for you?

The truth is EVERYONE has creativity in them there are a lot of people out who are looking for someway to express themselves without looking like a fool or the worst one in the class! Art Journaling is not just about making an apple look like an apple its about trusting the process, being honest and playing on the page which is why its such a great tool to tap into that dampened creative spark.

We are all naturally creative its just our schooling and conformity that irons it out of us! The left side of the brain is responsible for controlling the right side of the body. It also performs tasks that have to do with logic, such as in science and mathematics. On the other hand, the right hemisphere coordinates the left side of the body, and performs tasks that have do with creativity and the arts.

Our creativity is unique and with robotics and artificial intelligence slowly creeping into everything the one amazing thing about us humans is that we do have our own individuality, this is our human footprint, it defines us as being completely individual, its our own mark! Creativity is our own personal voice and at the heart of what makes us as human and challenging the world of Artificial intelligence.

So many people have told me that they are not creative but remember when we were children. we had imaginations and we all naturally enjoyed playing with our imaginations and splashing about with the paint.

like stick men”

We are not making pretty pictures…

Everyone has an imagination.

WE all have emotional baggage good and bad. by using the process of Art journaling and connecting to that it gives us amazing fuel to start. My workshops aren’t about being an artist or being judged what is good or bad, a butterfly doesn’t have to look like a butterfly but you can show your Core emotions of anxiety, stress, fear, happiness, joy etc, with free flow words, collage, paints, print techniques in your art journals.

My retreats and workshops are:
 PLAYFUL
JOYFUL
EXPERIMENTAL
TRANSFORMATIONAL
SAFE
REVEALING
RELEASING

If you are yearning for somewhere or something to tap back into your creativity we warmly welcome beginners and have had great Core Creatives leave my workshops with amazing bodies of work that they didn’t know they had in them!

My next workshop is Sat 16th March @ The Discovery Centre and as I have had so many parents asking about an evening workshop I am hosting a relaxed Art Journaling soiree at Thrive Café and Wellbeing Thursday 18th April 7.00pm – 9.30pm tea and cake included. Email: Deborah@coreartjournaling.co.uk
